Excellent restaurant. The food was superb, and beautifully presented. There was a good drinks selection, I was particularly keen on the locally brewed beer. Service was fast and friendly.

Seasonal food, prepared with twist. Chef Ana Ugarković is well known at the Croatian food scene for years now. She deserves this position!

Ana uses fresh, in season, and local ingredients, but it’s not local cusine :) She cooks similar to Ottolenghi, and it’s amazing and unique for Zagreb! You need to reserve a table in advance

We enjoyed this place, which serves food in a way that is familiar to us Californians. We noticed the placemat shows that the head chef worked at Chez Panisse and this experience shows up in creative combinations and fresh ingredients. It is refreshing after being a tourist and having the local food for many days straight. The gnocchi was yummy as were the lamb stuffed kale, paired with Milins Poship (white wine). The server was efficient, not very conversational as is the style in Croatia, and the location was cute. The only downside was we picked an outside seat to be away from smoke. But as the seats became empty a loud and drunk group of women came outside to smoke and made it unpleasant. Smoking is prevalent in Croatia and I can't fault the restaurant for this, but it would be nice if they could provide a designated area for smoking not near diners. Overall, highly recommend!

This cozy little restaurant is one of our tested favorites. The ambient is great - relaxed and casual and the restaurant itself is in the city centre. But, don't count on walking in - you need a reservation a couple of days in advance from our experience. The food is simply amazing, taste well thought out and combined in a way that every single thing or combination on your plate tastes great, asking you to explore it. The service is very polite and warm. The last time we visited the waitress brought us the wrong beer and the cake had a bit of baking paper stuck to it. We didn't mind and drank the beer and ate the cake (which was delicious) but pointed it out, to which they appologized and insisted on not charging us for neither the cake or the drinks. I'd certainly recommend it and will surely be coming back again.

Discover the intimate allure of Mali Bar, a cozy Zagreb eatery renowned for its distinct culinary offerings. Indulge in a gastronomic journey filled with unexpected delights, such as the homemade chicken liver and the flavorful 'vitello tonnato' appetizer, each dish a revelation of new tastes. Treat yourself to the exquisite bavette steak, a testament to Mali Bar's commitment to quality and flavor. While unassuming, this quaint establishment requires advance reservations due to its popularity. Don't miss out on the Mali Bar experience—a culinary adventure that blends innovation with warmth.

This small bistro has a very good and menu with lots of different meals. We tried three meals and they were different than most meals you can find in other bistros in Zagreb. I recommend this place if you want to try a different combination of otherwise simple and everyday food. Usually very busy and it's always better to make a reservation. There are no parking places in the courtyard so you have to find it somewhere around.

Nice ambient, great food, kind and helpful staff. A bit pricey, but it's worth it.

In a few visits, Mali Bar has become my favorite restaurant in Zagreb. It is a rare thing to be able to serve humble and yet creative food and this is what we get every time in this place. The chef and the staff offers fresh and modern cuisine and some dishes with a little twist for the adventurous at heart (like me) whether it be olives in a dessert or even an croissant infused purée next to a steak, there is always a great idea and the perfect execution. I honestly wish I could eat there every week. Great location, great vibe and friendly staff. What else could we ask for ? I hope they keep going with the same philosophy for a very long time.
